Marni Van Dyk
Marni Van Dyk is a Multi-Platform Storyteller.
Screenwriter, Director, Producer, Story Editor, Brand Story Strategist & Consultant, and Live Event Writer. She loves hats, wears many— though not necessarily at the same time. She’s a detail oriented, big-picture thinker, thriving in all phases of story development, from creative ideation, to development, production and execution, post-production and launch. She values fast-paced, respectful environments, detailed creative collaboration, and is sensitive to the nuances of voice.
In her personal work, her latest film, a short entitled This is Not About Swimming, had its World Premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, and is now available on CBC and to stream on CBC Gem.
Her first feature-length film Learn to Swim, written with Director Thyrone Tommy (Leilani Films/Wildling Pictures) had its World Premiere at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. It is distributed by Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY Releasing on NETFLIX in the US, UK, AUS/NZ, and by Mongrel Media in Canada.
Marni is the Series Director on the episodic comedy Made for TV with Boman Martinez-Reid (Crave/Bell Media). She’s served as Head Writer for event specials for ABC, CBS, CBC, and CTV, as Story Editor and Writer for numerous film and television projects, and as a Producer on several award winning series. She also develops elevated voice and tone for both corporate and public persona clients.
She works across genres, striving to create work with impact wherever she lands.
